6. "ANGEL OF LIGHT"

The transformation of Dr Billy Graham from an evangelical stalwart with apparent fundamentalist leanings into a theological liberal and ardent admirer of the Pope and the Roman Catholic system is a mystery which cannot be understood except in the light of God's prophetic Word.

"And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore, it is no great thing if his ministers also transformed as the ministers of righteousness…" ( 2 Cor 11:14-15 ).

The peril of the end time is the adversary's perversion of the Gospel through the agency of "ministers of righteousness" who, having departed from the faith, and "giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrine of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy…" ( 1 Tim 4:1,2 ) now preach "another gospel" ( 2 Cor 11:4 ; Gal 1:6-9 ), to the subversion of the faith of the hearers.

Dr Billy Graham is the acknowledged spokesman of Christendom and evangelicalism on the world scene today. No other single preacher this century has been heard as widely as Dr Graham. Through forty years of ecumenical evangelistic crusades, literally many, many hundred millions have heard this renowned preacher's gospel broadcasts.

No other preacher commands the universal respect as Dr Graham. He is accepted by Catholics as well as Protestants. Whatever Dr Graham says, or does not say, carries the weight of approval of Christendom at large. Dr Billy Graham has become the arbiter of Gospel truth.

"False apostle, deceitful worker"

The apostle Paul in his letter to the Corinthian Christians warned of "false apostles, deceitful workers" who preached "another Jesus…another spirit…another gospel" ( 2 Cor 11:4 , 13 ). That was Satan's mortal blow aimed at the early Church.

Satan has not spared the modern Church. Today the enemy of our souls employs the same method of attack. Satan does not appear as Satan, as some fearsome destructive being, attacking the Church. By subtilty ( 2 Cor 11:3 ), he masquerades as an "angel of light" or "messenger of the gospel", preaching "another gospel".

Over the space of forty years, Dr Graham's theological stance, gospel content and doctrinal orthodoxy (in his preaching, speaking and writing) have pursued a downward course. This progressive departure from the "faith which was once delivered unto the saints" (Jude 3 ) is fully documented by Ian Brown and Wilson Ewin. The reader is recommended to read the two publications for himself. Here we merely present some basic, irrefutable evidences of Dr Graham's apostasy.

Open Apostasy and Blatant Unbelief

Here are Dr Graham's statements and utterances (within quotes):

1) On CREATION "The story of Adam? How you believe in it doesn't affect the doctrine. Either at a certain moment in evolution God breathed into one particular ape-man or..."  

Comment: Dr Graham accommodates to the godless and anti-Christian theory of evolution, Satan's crippling blow on the Genesis creation record, thus making God a liar. Billy Graham sides with Darwinian and devilish evolutionism against Biblical Creationism.

2) On the VIRGIN BIRTH "I do not find anywhere in the New Testament that this particular belief is necessary for personal salvation."  

Comment: Dr Graham's feigned naivety cannot exonerate his unbelief. He compromises the supernatural conception and virgin birth, thereby destroying the deity of our Lord Emmanuel, God Incarnate.

3) Question: Is Christ our Lord the ONLY WAY OF SALVATION ? "I believe that there are other ways of recognizing the existence of God-through nature, for in-stance-and plenty of other opportunities, therefore, of saying Yes to God."  

Comment: By his reply Dr Graham denies the clear teaching of God's Word in John 14:6 , Acts 4:12 and 1 Tim 2:5 . Through the years of association with modernists and infidels, Dr Graham accommodates to the falsehood of "many ways to God".

4) On HELL "There has to be a hell for Hitler or an Eichman. Hitler and Schweitzer should not be in the same place."  

Comment: Albert Schweitzer was a liberal and unbeliever, but Dr Graham considers that he should not be consigned to hell. He does not believe God's Word which says, "But the fearful and unbelieving…shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone..."  (Rev 2l: 8).

5) On BAPTISMAL REGENERATION "I believe that a miracle can happen in these children so that they are regenerated, that is, made Christian, through infant baptism."  

Comment: Dr Graham has been drawing closer and ever closer to Rome in the course of decades of warm association with Roman Catholics. He now identifies with their unbiblical doctrine of "baptismal regeneration" which strikes at the very heart of the gospel truth, ie of salvation by faith alone.

6) On his BELIEFS "I've found that my beliefs are essentially the same as the orthodox Roman Catholics. We only differ on some matters of later church tradition."  

Comment: Rev Ewin's book "The Assimi-lation of Evangelist Billy Graham into the Roman Catholic Church" explains why Billy Graham has arrived at his present departure from Bible truth, and has accepted Roman Catholicism.

7) On the MASS "This past week I preached in a great Catholic Cathedral, a funeral sermon for a close friend of mine who was a Catholic... and as I sat there going through the funeral mass that was a very beautiful thing and certainly straight and clear in the gospel I believe…"

Comment: His eyes blinded by the adversary and father of lies, Dr Graham saw the idolatrous ritual as a "very beautiful thing straight and clear in the gospel…" Idolatry has become beautiful to him.

8) On the ECUMENICAL MOVEMENT "London: Dr Billy Graham… said here that he sees a new spirit in the world which he believes can be attributed to the ecumenical movement."  

Comment: No other individual has done as much as Dr Graham in the advancement of the ecumenical movement. His crusades demand, and receive, the support of almost all churches, including the Roman Catholic Church and liberal-modernist churches. He has effectively erased the line of division between Protestants and Catholics, and opened the way for all Christendom to be returned to the unequal yoke of Rome.

Because they loved not the Truth

Behind a vast smokescreen laid by the enemy his agents are mobilizing Christendom for her fateful (and fatal) return to Rome. Protestants have stopped protesting: through years of subtle disinformation by liberal and modernist theologians, the mainline churches have come to regard the Reformation as an unfortunate mistake best forgotten. Evangelicals, who formed the bulwark of Protestant opposition to Rome are now firmly set on the fast track to Mother Church. At the forefront of this gospel defection is their spokesman and leader Dr Billy Graham.

Fact is stranger than fiction. He who once stood squarely on the Word of God, and for a time apparently aligned with the fundamentalist leaders in America, is now the foremost promoter of unscriptural ecumenical union. The one who had identified Roman Catholicism as one of the "gravest menaces faced by Orthodox Christianity" has become a staunch believer in the Roman Catholic system and an ardent admirer of the Pope.

How can these things be? Those of the old time evangelical faith gaze on the ecumenical scene with amazement and utter disbelief. But God's Word foretold it 2, 000 years ago. We refer to 2 Thess 2 , 2 Cor 11 and Rev 17 . We are reminded once again, "And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness.."  ( 2 Cor 11:14,15 ).

The mystery of the conversion of Dr Graham to the Roman Catholic faith is clearly explained in God's prophetic Word. He and his bedfellows of the Lausanne Movement have not "the love of the truth… for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe in a lie."  ( 2 Thess 2:10,11 ). It is a God-sent delusion!

For evangelicalism's global leaders (Billy Graham, Bill Bright, J. I. Packer, John Stott and those of the Lausanne Movement, LCOWE, etc.) to accept the Roman Catholic doctrines and dogmas, so far removed from the evangelical faith and utterly opposed to the Word of God, speaks of a massive loss of spiritual discernment and discrimination. Under the "strong delusion" sent from God, they now willingly "believe a lie".

Through years of ecumenical association with Catholics, and imbibing of the sweet intoxications of their dogmas, Billy Graham (and his fellow evangelicals) "have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication" (Rev 17:2 ). Intoxicated by the spirit of "another gospel" ( 2 Cor 11:4 ; Gal 1:6-9 ) he now sees good for evil and truth for falsehood.

What do we say to all this? We turn once again to God's Word: "…brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught…" ( 2 Thess 2:15 ). If evangelicals would only turn to God's Word, and "hold the traditions" which we have loved, what a blessed thing that would be!

"If I protest with the loudest voice and clearest exposition of Scripture, except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at the moment attacking, then I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Him.
